Does codeine phosphate have side effects?
Like all prescription medications, codeine phosphate can have side-effects, and it is not suitable everyone. Side effects can be minor in which case they can usually disregarded. Or they may be significant requiring you to discontinue the medication to consult a medical professional.

Minor side-effects include:

• Nausea and vomiting
• Headache
• Drowsiness
• Confusion

Seek medical help in the event of:

• Weak pulse or slow heart rate
• Fainting
• Seizures
• Problems with urination

Codeine can be addictive and must only be taken with the guidance of a doctor. You should not buy codeine phosphate if you are a drug addict, drug abuser, or an alcoholic.

An overdose of codeine can be fatal. Use only as directed. You must contact emergency services immediately if you have reason to believe you have taken an overdose of codeine phosphate.
